Yes, we've all seen the Netgear Skype phone.

I had the 19th unit in production and let me tell you, it was clear that this was a 1.0 unit. First thing was that it got so darn HOT that it singed the hairs on my ear. Wait, did I admit to having hair on my ears? Anyways, setup proved to not be that big of a deal, but it was a little tricky to get used to typing in all the WEP keys into the thing. It did pickup my buddy lists as advertised and it truly did function. Try to plug a headset into the headset jack and you will be disappointed. You get a pretty screen that pops up showing a headset so you figure, cool it works. Nope. No sound and the other party can't hear you. So, I return it and get another. Same deal. It wasn't until I chatted with Netgear at the www.splashblog.com/ces - 2007 CES that they explained the goof up. The headset jack was a stereo headset meaning you have to plug in a stereo jack to make the thing work. A bit lame I'd say considering it's a PHONE not a music player. All in all, there are lots of these types of devices out there now, so check around, be picky, there are better options.
